I ran into an issue with a sporadic number of windows 10 machines that would enter sleep mode after about 2-3 minutes of inactivity. Slightly different, but figured I'd post the information I found. I am very disappointed in the lack of MS documentation on this. To fix it I have disabled Sync Settings across devices! Also when I discovered this solved the problem I danced excitedly in circles for a few minutes in satisfaction. The 5 minute screen timeout would then take affect on their Windows 10 device due to Sync Settings across devices. Their Windows 10 computer had Sync Settings enabled Anyway, this led me to discover a setting in Windows 10 called Sync Settings that basically syncs devices settings across all devices the AD account is activated on.Īctive Sync and Outlook App are setup to force a 5 minute screen lock on cell phones with the Exchange account active. I figured out that in certain newer build of Windows 10 (1709+), users unknowingly enroll the device in AAD by signing into the People app, or any store app, or Outlook 2016 v1708. And the problem only happened on computer objects enrolled in AAD. One thing I noticed, is that even though we do not use Intune, or Azure AD for management of devices, I noticed that some (about half out PC fleet) had gotten enrolled into Azure Active Directory (AAD). So I started looking into what those devices had in common. The long and short of it was this issue would follow users around across only some devices. So I started looking for similarities with devices/users affected. Your issue (if it is what I think it may be) is not well documented, actually found nothing on the webby thing except one article that mentioned something about Intune, which we has not deployed yet. Tested users/computers/images/domain joined-not domain joined ect. Checked GP, reg settings, and USMT (which we use to transfer files and settings when we give out new computers). They're all in the same OU, have the same GPO's applied, and are on the same Windows 10 Version/Update Level. I have Dr's getting mad at me because other doctors aren't having to login that often, but the others are. I have about 10 computers that are locking after 5 minutes, but the others aren't. Office - has about 40 Windows 10 Laptops joined to a Server 2012R2 Domain that's functional on a 2008 level. Has anyone ran into this? I have to think it's some type of GPO setting somewhere, but I'm up against a wall and starting to give up.Ī perfect example - one site, a Dr. These are spread across different domains and domain controllers. My issue is, I have a sporadic amount of Windows 10 computers - about 200 - that are locking back to the lock screen after, generally, 5 minutes of inactivity. ![]() ![]() Tons of registry "Fixes", command line commands. Countless google searches, tried tons of "fixes" - I have even created a few Partner Support Cases with Microsoft. I have beat my head against this issue for nearly a month now.
